HR101 Recruitment

If I'm ever in a position (god forbid) to make recruitment decisions for management positions, this is what I will do; provided that the candidates are fresh out of college.

The recruitment process is based on one sound and very basic principle: The ideal candidate should not have an iota of subject knowledge while having successfully completed a study program.

I will establish the first criterion by asking a few intellectually challenging questions like, what were the subjects you studied in your final year? How do you spell the word 'information' etc... If a candidate demonstrates acumen in answering these, they are out, ofcourse. Those that get through this initial hurdle I will then carefully screen to establish that they infact, have successfully completed their degree program.

That's it. Simple init. Select a person who has passed his/her degree, but yet, who does not have a clue about what he or she has studied.

Now look at the reasoning behind this, if you have not seen it already. A manager has to be skilled in getting work done; he/she doesn't really need to know how to do the work. Now ask yourself how would a person without any knowledge pass a degree? How the dickens did they do it? By getting most of his/her work done by others ofcourse. Such a person would have been managing his peers in such a way as to enable him/her to pass; for a duration of 3 to 4 years to boot. What better credentials for ones management ability, eh?

This post is not directed at any individual. It should be treated purely at a conceptual level

pp: I also think that chaps with nothing better to do than come up with trash such as this, should seriously consider getting a life.

That is why I'm now going on a waffle binge; the closest substitute for a life is ofcourse, good food.

syncope

Well, it was nothing more than smurf pull after all...

Nobody really cares; personal agendas, misinformation, miscommunication. Too many individuals. Too much digression. Too many good people getting bogged down on lesser problems. Too little done. Nothing appreciated.

Weary of doing, defending, waiting, listening... Everyone is, i guess. It's the time of the zombie. It really doesn't matter anymore.

But I don't really believe all that....

A lot of chapters come to an end this week; not the Shrek kind of end, more like the shark getting killed by anchor kinda end in Shark Tales. Nevertheless, feels a bit like x'mas. I used to believe in new beginnings, fresh starts; new year, new broom - out with the old crap, bring on the new etc. Used to. I guess i'm old enough to see things as a continuum. Continuums are good. I can live with contiuums. To hell with quantization! yeah!

No i really don't believe that either. It does feel a bit like x'mas...
