There is this type of person who lives for taking apart a problem and striping it down to its mathematical/logical nuts and bolts and maybe expressing an abstract solution; after which point, the implementation of a solution is simply too unbearably insipid.
There is that type of person. I'm not one of them. I seem to simply get bored or run out of whiteboard space in that there early stages. If that's not bad enough, it seems that the current intellectual bankruptcy is filtering through to my primary mode of employment. The memories of sweating through analytical math just seems like a dull throb in my lobotomized brain sinking through the muck and mire of insipid corporate professionalism. But hey, maybe all I need is more whiteboards or even some serious competition.
On the bright side however, I've been caught up in what seems to be a crazy wild-life adventure. The significant other has developed a startling, scary and altogether impressive wild-life photography/ornithology craze. She's also managed to hook up with some equally devastatingly fanatic types, the upshot of which has been us being to Yala, Bundala, Udawalawe on prolonged visits as well as quite a few evenings at places like the Lunawa Lagoon and Boralesgamuwa Wild Life preserve. Plans are afoot to cover the rest of the wild life preserves within the year, I gather from the numerous fanatic-type conversations. It's seems they've taken it upon themselves to 'develop a comprehensive photographic catalogue of the flora & fauna of Sri Lanka'; though at the moment, the mission seems to be more like, 'rush off to some god forsaken corner of the country. Brave tsunamis, rampaging elephants, marauding thieves and rabid mosquitoes and shoot photos of most things who'd think of us as dinner'. Well, not really; its seems to be mostly birds at the moment. Flora, fauna, the open road and days and days on the back of an open safari jeep...
I find myself a surprisingly willing companion/chauffeur/liaison person on these wild escapades. It feels like, I'm hitching a ride on someone else's life. Well, it sure beats trying to get your own.
